About Monique
Monique Stamps is a trailblazer whose life took a remarkable turn after a devastating car accident at the age of 16 left her paralyzed from the chest down. Despite this life-altering event, she transformed adversity into opportunity, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and dedicating over 20 years to advocating for disability rights.
In Charlotte, NC, Monique established a sister chapter of Women Embracing Abilities Now (W.E.A.N.), fostering peer mentoring relationships for women and girls with disabilities. Through this initiative, she champions equal access to breast and OB/GYN care and raises awareness of the significant health disparities faced by individuals with disabilities.
Monique champions sisterhood among women with disabilities, amplifying their voices and challenging stereotypes. As Outreach Coordinator for The Raw Beauty Project, she expands its impact, advocating for inclusion and equality..
Monique’s dedication extends to her role as an ambassador for The Raw Beauty Project, where she curated a 2016 exhibit spotlighting models and photographers from the Charlotte area. Her efforts have expanded the project’s reach, bringing its empowering message to other cities in North Carolina. Now serving as the Outreach Coordinator for The Raw Beauty Project and its health initiatives, Monique continues to inspire and advocate for inclusion and equality.
"A woman whose smile is open and whose expression is glad has a kind of beauty no matter what she wears."
